Ok few ideas;

Instead of invading another sovereign country on short notice
US could hv:

A) Make torough investigation as who and how did 9/11 attacks

B) Slash heads to number of people who held highly paid defence/security jobs
for obvious inadequacy in this case.

C) Create completely new internal security, antiterrorist infrastructure/forces and deploy them within US, rather then invading other countries without real proof/evidence and illegaly at the end.
Now that Soviet threat (bloated cow?) has been long gone, waist military resources could be reinvested in internal security, rather then pissing off Russia with new bases in their neighbourhood, or Arabs with new Carriers...

A-1) Eventually discover who actually did it, and *press charges*
against particular group of people/organisation or entire country
if involvement proven (like SaudiA ? )

D) Seek world summit with top Islam religious leaders and countries
and oblige them to strongly condemn attacks on innocent people and
make it top class religious ofence/crime punishable by death but foremost
shamefull for themselves and their families, simillar to what they practice with Islam converts to other religions.
(Yes, that summit include shaking hands and talking face to face with Iran)

E) Press on resolving Palestinian problem as it greatly fuels anger
amongs oridinary muslims and in extreeme cases leed directly to terrorisam.

F) Keep peacefull foreign policies simillar to let say Canada or Europe
contributing to world peace and prosperity, rather then instability
and fear.

G-Z Everything exactly opposite of what is current (and hopefully outgoing) administration doing.


To bad it is to late / damage is already done, and there is no
*rollback* in this case. Situation today is much worse then it was in 2001
and that will be fact of everybody's life for another 10-15 years unless
page is radically turned, and different attitudes/actions/aproaches are taken.

Peace
