I bought my diving fins some 15 years ago, an Italian make "Mares", with "Made in Italy" stamped on the "sole". My mate, who started only a few years ago, has a Mares pair, with "Made in Estonia" stamped on the bottom. At least the rest of my gear was made in England (except the mask).

Back in the late 80s I visited Harvard and went into the varsity clothes shop. Practically every item of quintissentially American garments was made in Taiwan. I almost yearn back to those days when many things were made in Taiwan, and not China. Why should they get to make everything?
