Title:
Very Slow SQL , Why?
Hi all,
I have a table with 56 fields and 120,000 records growing by 5,000 per month. I have tried to use set order to Tag then set key to range to filter down records then I do a select with conditions hoping to only select from the result of the set key filter. I always end up waiting upto 5 minutes for the select statement to run, the number of rec's found each time depend on the where conditions, I use a macro to expand a variable length condition statement that can be reasonably long, but not often, perhaps 5-6 diff. conditions.
Why is it so slow, I chose Fox because everyone raves of its database speed. I must be way of here! Can you help me to select from this table based on 2 conditions. first is to narrow the 120,000 rec's down to blocks of approx. 40,000 by one filter condition e.g Region = "NORTH" then perform a where filter condition to further narrow this selection. TIA
RICK
P.S Sorry I was so wordy .
When the going gets tough the tough get going, when the going gets tougher only the toughest remain!!!!!
