Thanks for the info between p and i. I was told that a few weeks ago, but quickly forgot.

>I am by no means an expert but can tell you a little. 1080p is currently state of the art. 1080 is the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "p" stands for progressive, as opposed to "i" for interlaced. Historically TVs have refreshed the picture in interlaced form, which means every other line is drawn each time through. So on the first pass lines 1, 3, 5 .... N-1 are drawn, then lines 2, 4, 6 .... N. You may or may not see flicker that way. Progressive scan means every line is drawn every time. Your typical non-HDTV is 360i or 540i.

>AFAIK the main difference between LCD flat panel and projection is form factor. Flat panel screens are pleasingly lightweight. Rear projection units are beasts. I have a 54" JVC rear projection and it takes two people to move it. Two strong people.

>>When I look at the Best Buy website, I see they have a category for LCD Flat Panel, and Projection. What are the differences? I see a trend that LCD Flat Panels are more expensive. If the only difference is that the Flat Panels are flat, and the Rear Projections aren't, then I don't want to spend the extra money on an LCD.
