Interestenly enough, my experience is 180 degrees from yours. I've been buying Sony stuff from years, even when living in Argentina, including Discmans, TVs, original PS (one bought there, the other here, both still working), PS/2, PSP, VCRs, DVD Players, DVD Burners/Readers, CD Burners/Readers, Computer monitors (although the one I loved the most died, I blame my previous house, it killed several things on a 3 month period, but still have 2 more working after years), my digital camera is also Sony. I have no problems with any of them, and the only reason I did not buy the PS/3 yet is purely monetary <g>
Oh, and my father bought one of those Sony CD players that hold like 400 CDs to connect to his 3 CDs carousel Sony player, and he absolutely loved them
