It will exceed pro soccer in popularity anyway. <bg>

At least more people will have heard of a third round pick college player than have heard of Beckham ( or know LA has a soccer team )

>Because of what? The entrenched power of the NFL? There's a point there (if it's the point you were making) but I think the premise is correct that there is more demand for football than supply. Even in the so-called off season the sports news is full of football -- the draft, spring mini-camps, free agent signings. The Arena League, which IMO is right up there with dodgeball, draws well. With each passing year football becomes more of a dominant sport in this country. So even though there are hurdles, I wouldn't say there isn't room for another pro league. That's in addition to the NFL and NCAA <g>.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
