>I hear you. I know people who claim to be able to drive for 15 hours or even longer and be OK. Either they are fibbing or I am a wimp, because after 500 miles or so -- and that's with stops every couple of hours -- my concentration and presumably reaction time deteriorate severely. I suspect they are fibbers because even professional truck drivers are limited by law in how many hours they can drive in a row or within given time periods. You have to think there is some research behind the ICC rules.

That's why I mentioned the zombie.drv - as long as I could keep my eyes on the road (and yes it was night and the road was practically empty, as one may expect on a Friday at 2AM driving I95 through South Carolina) I kept driving, but then had to pull the curtain at some point.

As for those who claim to be able to drive 15 hours - maybe once a week, provided they got a good night's sleep before that, no worries etc. If you need to help loading, have to commute to your truck first etc etc, cut that by at least three hours. And yes, breaks every couple of hours are essential - you need to stretch, take a nap, a leak, a walk. There's no perfect ergonomic seat for a driver.
