Government moves allocate 350 miles per day. That is the amount of travel time you will be given if driving - anything more is considered dangerous (although most drive around 8-10 hours a day I'd guess so they get the travel time as vacation time).

>>>When I moved recently, I decided to go with a Penske truck instead of a Uhaul. It was a good choice. When I drove through the Uhaul place, all of their trucks looked crappy and old. The Penske place only had 3 trucks, but they looked brand new. It turned out they doublebooked the middle-sized truck though, so they gave me the bigger truck for the same price. I was a nervous friggin wreck driving that huge thing, plus I made one wrong turn and ended up driving down the main drag in the city. I am glad that's over, but the truck was nice and cheaper.

>>Last time I also wanted to switch to Penske, but their location finder was a mess; I did have a Uhaul location that I could ride a bicycle to (so no problem what to do with the car) and I was lucky to get a spanking new truck, with just 5k miles on it. I drove a thousand miles in two days, and didn't even feel tired (until unload, that is :), just a bit sleepy (read: zombie.drv) after first 8 hours.

>I hear you. I know people who claim to be able to drive for 15 hours or even longer and be OK. Either they are fibbing or I am a wimp, because after 500 miles or so -- and that's with stops every couple of hours -- my concentration and presumably reaction time deteriorate severely. I suspect they are fibbers because even professional truck drivers are limited by law in how many hours they can drive in a row or within given time periods. You have to think there is some research behind the ICC rules.
