I wish you the best luck with your proccess.
We used to sell an ERP, but due to sizing, we decided to drop everything but out massive goods distribution software. We now own the niche market here.
I would be scared to do a ERP again....MSFT is targeting our PYME customers with Navision and the "Project Green" (http://www.informationweek.com/story/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=15200123).
They have 17,000 programmers dedicated to this :(
Also SAP is targeting the very same segment, so our best strategyis to become specialists in our niche and grow geographycally.

Regards.

I have also created a separate Payroll application which interfaces with the main application.

I am working on a VFP9 + FireBird version of the same and have started with an Export Documentation module, to which I intend to add the above mentioned modules one by one, though frankly this is slow going as getting all the domain knowledge all over again into a new application.
