Haven't read the book ( I'm too much of a cranky old cynic for self-help books ) but was raised by the author <s> Hey, it doesn't hurt and can make you nice to be around. Maybe the big effect ( at least in seeing my Mother's pretty successful mentally healthy approach toward life ) is that it tends to bring out the best in those around you so you find yourself surrounded by people who are a little better than they otherwise might be. That can't be too bad <s>

I think it is not so much about a belief as about a mindset. Mom had very few illusions about life, but she definitely had an effect on her surroundings.

If it works for you, then you've already won.

>>>You need to read a book called "The Secret" and learn about the Law of Attraction. Negative thoughts and actions bring on more negative thoughts and actions. You have obviously had enough negative with the move ... time to think POSITIVE thoughts .. so you don't have any more mishaps!!! :-)

>>Please tell me you haven't join this cult. Positive thinking is fine, but believing that positive thinking is all you need is hooey.

>I stand by my recommendation of the book. It doesn't mean that positive thinking is all I need to get through life .. but I do feel it's a very important piece of the puzzle.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
