You bet. I am currently consulting with a company in the credit card industry and can tell you Visa and MasterCard have stringent new privacy and security requirements for any merchant who accepts their cards. A merchant found to be in violation of these requirements can not only be dropped as a merchant -- i.e. no longer be allowed to take Visa or MasterCard -- they are also subject to hefty fines. I heard a rumor (unsubstantiated) at work not long ago that the Chipotle restaurant chain may go out of business due to fines pending for not adequately protecting credit card data. )

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy
Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.
-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin
