Hi,

I am using SDT in my VFP/VMP projects.

I use the "captions" of fields in views for column headers in grids and also often have a "FILTER" button on screens that invokes SFQuery...where users see the captions as fields on which to filter.

A client reported that the captions were being lost, so that they would just see "CODE", "CODE", "CODE" in a number of grid column headings and filter field names. (These are 3 different fields from a lookup table, things like business code, SIC, location code, etc.).

I repaired the view and sent them a new copy (this had happened in 3 different views/screens and i coudln't figure out HOW).

Now i see that when i make a change to a field in a table that is in a view, ALL the captions and comments revert to the original values from ALL the tables in the view. All i did was chagne a single field from 30 to 40 characters, and sure enough, i again lost my nice captions and comments (the comment field is important, as the text "*:SFQUERY NOFILTER" is there to tell SFQuery not to display that field as a filterable field, in many cases, primary keys, etc.).

Please help! i don't want to continaully redefine my view every time i make a change to a table!

Thanks, Jill
