>While you and I usually see eye-to-eye, on this one I disagree. It is my opinion that Martin's word is as good as Michel's word on this particular issue.

AFAIK, Martin just helps out with the UT and is not an owner. I found it astounding that Michel will not address security concerns directly. He has not even said he delegated the answer to Martin and has not indicated if Martin's response is correct. In fact, brushing it aside leaves one with the thought that maybe he didn't want to admit that security was lacking.

>I know that many have qualms about the general terseness of Michel's replies to anything relating to UT. I too, frankly, wish that he would be far more verbose and participatory when issues are raised or questions are asked. But I have the very same wish for any business where I might have questions.

Sure, that's it. A business should respect the legitimate concerns of its customers.

>And in the vast majority of businesses there isn't even a mechanism to get an issue on their radar in the first place.

True. We got it on the radar here, but mostly it was ignored, so I can't be all that thrilled about getting something on the radar that was then brushed off.

>How many owners/moderators of online forums do you know of that are any more "forthcoming" than Michel? My experience - admittedly very limited - is that others communicate less with their members/attendees than Michel does.

Well, good question. I haven't had an issue like this come up in another forum, so it's hard to compare.

>And this place has a way of growing even the smallest comment into huge threads of hardly related issues. I can't say that I blame him for being frugal with his words. People here can turn a simple compliment into an IED and cause all kinds of collateral damage.

Did you mean compliment or complaint? There are lots of examples of companies heading off disasters by being open and honest when a problem crops up and then taking action to address the issue. And there are lots of examples of companies letting something get out of control. I'm astounded when people don't learn from these examples. This is not something on the scale of a Tylenol situation - your picture tells me you're old enough to remember that <g> - but it has made a number of people wonder why Michel can't directly address legitimate questions about security. I don't think he has any defense for that and it makes him look like a poor businessman.
