What sustains me is that there are two beautiful girls in the world who would not be here otherwise. It's funny because this came up in the car between Wisconsin and here a couple of weeks ago. Emily said something derogatory about her mom. Allie fired back. Emily asked if I would do it again, knowing what I know now. I said absolutely.

She graduates from middle school tomorrow night and I will be there. I will be immediately recognizable as her proud dad. Emily constantly reminds me of the beauty of life. She has all my good traits, none of my bad ones, and the same from her mom. And things that are way beyond either of us. Emily is a gift. That is the only appropriate word.

You would do the same, wouldn't you? If you had the godly ability to unspool time to the moment you said yes -- no husband, no Haley -- you would do it again, wouldn't you?
