>>>I sincerely doubt M$ will sell Fox because the same thing will happen ... it will compete with their existing products. I see .Net as nothing more than a way to trap people into using SQL Server. Why should a small business buy SQL Server and pay license fees if Visual Foxpro can do the same job with no distributed fees?

>>And SQL Express ( or for that matter MSDE ) means a lot of us haven't used DBFs for our VFP apps for years. One code base scales from mom and pop to enterprise.

Another plus I'm finding now is that if the data is in SQL and the client asks for something that is easier to do in ASP .NET ( or with some fancy Infragistics thing ) you can point that at the same data. ( there is also somekind of tool to run the fox app as a process in the .NET app ( Strataframe has a sample solution doing it but I haven't got that far yet )

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
