The licensing has changed in Crystal XI. I think for web-based, you need to use the Crystal Server that ships with the product. For other server-based reports, licensing varies depending on whether it's an in-house or commercial application. I just re-read their licending, and I'm not certain if that first part is completely accurate. I think there are some legitimate web uses for the latest embedded version of CR.NET and the CR XI Developer edition that conform to their licensing, without having to purchase the full blown Crystal Reports Server Product that goees for 7 or 8K.
Not debating you, just not sure....it's a little different than some conversations I had with them last fall on this subject.
But yeah, there are definitely stipulations if you're distributing things outside your organization.
I've been planning a blog update for follow-up information from my book, and one section will be a reader's digest version of CR licensing in "plain english". I have two messages into our friends in Vancouver and I've posed several scenario questions for them. I'll post what I find out.
Thanks,
Kevin
