The punishment Paris received (from the original sentence to the current ridiculous sentence) is indeed too minor for her offense. In many states, if she were not Paris Hilton, she would have had the book thrown at her and it would have stuck.

However, in LA County, the average sentence for her crime is 1-2 days spent in jail total. That is sad, but that is the reality there. In essence, she received a much harder sentence than the typical American with the same offense - even given her ankle bracelet.
