Yes, that will meet my current deadline but it does nothing for all of the other deadlines I will get in the future (deadlines are seldom met regardless). I am destined to repeat the same mistakes over again on every project with that approach. If I plant the apple then I will get better and better at rapid development with each new project.

It is the age old issue of immediate gratification versus long term improvement.
