Yes, that certainly was main point of your post, and right on, IMO. It is lamentable that often times just when something is perfected (like the old VW bug of 1965 or VFP 9), it is supplanted by something new and fancier and, usually, less reliable. Until it in turn is perfected, at which time it is supplanted by something else. And the cycle starts again.
As the old "Crusty Blues" God Mississippi John Hurt would sing:"Just when you get ready, you gotta die..." He was, in my opinion, at the height of his career when he died at the age of 74. Not at the height technique -wise, but certainly soul-wise.
