I never needed a second cell reference, except when working with a range of cells.
Also, I seldom select a cell or a range. I usually work directly with a .Cells() or .Range() object, without selecting it. This is a difference from manually inserting data - when automating, it is up to you whether you want to actually change the cell selector.
