If a license is suspended, there was a reason for that. Anyone on probation of any kind is under the explicit threat of punishment becoming real for any wrong move in the old direction. And suspended license is just that, a probation.
IOW, jailtime justified.
And even if judge is going for fame and political points - he may be right there. This country is losing what, 30 thousand people to traffic every year, plus who knows how many more get disabled or incur significant medical cost. It's about time judges started taking that seriously.
