President Lincoln, a Republican, made a statement in his Gettysburg Address, “government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth”.

It seems to imply that the people are to be served by government. Many documents and speeches from famous American politicians also indicate that government serves the people. It is the people.

President Bush in his recent speech to affirm his support for Attorney General Gonzales, made an interesting comment. “My government”, was a comment from President Bush that I found interesting. What about the people? Who needs people?

I could understand if he said, “My administration”, but his phrase means something else. Probably tomorrow the Presidents Press Secretary will say, “What the President really meant was…”. Then again, who really cares?

This President was lame before he was a duck! :)
