The dll is in the C: drive and registered, with the reference added to the project by choosing Project > Add Reference and pointing to the XitechCryptor item in the COM list.
The .NET application is being developed in a drive in the server that is mapped to Z:. Would that have anything to do with permission problems?
A file "Interop.XitechCryptor.dll" was placed in the bin/Debug directory under the project directory, pressumably when VS added the reference to XitechCryptor. I added permissions by choosing that option in the debug dialog that came up indicating error, and don't know where it was placed or what the file extension may be in order to search for it. I don't see any file with a name that obviously refers to permissions.
Thanks again,
Alex
