And agaim I fully side with you.

I also wonder why Michel didn't tell us about his vacation in advance and who'd be his replacement in the mean time.

>>>Are you an actual paying member? I didn't have any giant issues with Michel up until now, but I think this is a callous disregard for the UT users. I did have minor issues with the interface here and his responsiveness on that and a general feeling about his attitude (but that varied). In the last few years, I have participated more on this site, but this lingering feeling has kept me from being a consistent paying member. Recently I was considering paying for a year's subscription since I was getting a better feeling for Michel and the UT in general, but now this crops up. I'm not going to join a site that ignores its users/members.

>>I have selected this message to provide a feedback. I could have chosen another one from this thread as they all seem to target at me. First of all, I am on vacation for the first time since several years. So, I didn`t have any connection nor email access since now. Secondly, I already provided a small feedback on the other thread I have created, again about a situation that has been created elsewhere on the net, where I would not get involved in. Most of the members here have seen that I have not been online that much since the tax issue. This has taken a lot of my time and I had to work double hours for a long time to cover all the lost. On that, this is still not resolved entirely a last minute adjustment to the Canadian government on the new 2007 budget that has been approved could help us a little bit in the next few months regarding that international taxation that the Canadian governement could finally drop after 16 years.
>>
>>In overall, what I have seen over the years is whenever I do not respond, without even knowing what are the reasons for, most of the members are getting extremely mad at however is involved in the Universal Thread. Many should understand that this is a very small, but very good infrastructure to provide support in our areas of interest. So, it is pratically impossible for me to keep waiting every minute to see if there is a reply I have to make. Since the tax issue, everything changed. I had to change my entire way of working to adjust to that very irritating situation. What was disappointing is those who decided not to renew because of the tax issue, even knowing that since I dropped the annual subscription to 99.95$ Canadian, that this was lower than the initial cost without the tax. I think I did whatever I could to react to that situation, which has caused me a lot of problems in various aspects of what I do every day. However, as I said, this could be resolved soon if the tax law

>>As for the requests of change, on this site, over the years, I think we did well as for several years, we practically did whatever we have been asked for, something I never personally saw elsewhere on other sites. I remember having sent several requests to other sites and never received any response of feedback at all.
>>
>>In overall, in regards to the origins of all the threads that are related to what happened on the other site, this is something I do not get involved in. I just wish they have resolved it by now.
>>
>>Anyway, I just wanted to provide a few words. I have a long drive today to get back home so I hope people will keep a good overview on this site, on its users and the way it has been managed for years. Otherwise, it would have been closed since a very long time I guess.

>Michel - Thanks for the reply. I hope you enjoyed your vacation and I hope the tax issue can be cleared up. It seems all governments are eyeing the Internet as a source of taxes even if they haven't passed any laws on it.

>To me, this is all very simple. It was insinuated by Andy Kramek that Naomi viewed his password on the UT in order to hack his Foxite account. This caused people to be concerned that UT admins/consultants/moderators could view passwords. This would be a security lapse and people wanted you to address this. As far as I know, you have still not addressed this. This was seen by a number of people as ignoring the legitimate concerns of your customers. Martin S. said he could not see passwords, and he does seem to work for you, but people wanted you to answer the question. The fight between Naomi and Andy doesn't have anything to do with you, but the implications about UT security are directly related to you. It's disappointing when you won't answer the question and, quite frankly, it's a poor business decision.
>
>As an aside, I have pointed out to Marcia Akins that Andy unfairly implicated the UT security practices in his blog because he did not indicate that his password was the same as his user ID (and therefore it was incredibly easy to hack his account without knowledge gleaned from the UT). AFAIK, they have not responded to this. I think he should apologize, especially since Naomi has apologized. I'm not holding my breath.
