Most of the people on this forum who have worked in both VFP and now .NET are general proponents of stored procedures. It's not just me, and I really find some of the reactions amusing.That's just an "Appeal to Popularity" fallacy.
Here's the consistent pattern of its use on UT:
1) An "Appeal to Popularity" fallacy is pronounced as if it carries great merit.
2) Amusement is expressed about those who disagree.
3) (optional) A stooge pops up up to attack those disagreeing with the fallacy; this is a pretext for the original proponent to roll his eyes and declare the discussion a waste of time.
4) Repeat whenever the fallacy is challenged.
