Most of the people on this forum who have worked in both VFP and now .NET are general proponents of stored procedures. It's not just me, and I really find some of the reactions amusing.

That's just an "Appeal to Popularity" fallacy.

Here's the consistent pattern of its use on UT:

1) An "Appeal to Popularity" fallacy is pronounced as if it carries great merit.
2) Amusement is expressed about those who disagree.
3) (optional) A stooge pops up up to attack those disagreeing with the fallacy; this is a pretext for the original proponent to roll his eyes and declare the discussion a waste of time.
4) Repeat whenever the fallacy is challenged.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
