You may deliberately set column controls for this. For General field it may be olebound control: it will show the general field content as is, without clicking; it may be textbox control - then it will show something like "Gen" and you may click on it to display the gen content in the separate window.

If you just droped the grid on the form, then most likely you see "Gen" in the column textbox.
