Many people have these messages that leave what seems like the whole thread before them and it makes it difficult and annoying to read (i.e. to find the response amid all the clutter).
See the messages previously on this thread for an example. I very much prefer a big SNIP or two and leaving just enough to make it clear what you are responding to.
If this is not enough of a good argument for you, I can find some more.
