It didn't work for me either. But I got the work around as follows.

click of add button
*--
LOCAL lcvar1,lcvar2
SELECT addingalias
GO BOTT
lcvar1= cvar1
lcvar2= cvar2
APPEND BLANK
REPLACE cvar1 WITH lcvar1
REPLACE cvar2 WITH lcvar2
