Thanks for your responses. I will get back to you this weekend with a reply to your points, but wanted to at least say this:

I'm seeing more and more instances where people generate SPs for common things like standard INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE processes. In many cases, it's in conjunction with the client using some sort of framework. I've worked on some projects that use the Mere Mortals Framework, and generators are used to create some of the procs.
