>That's my understanding too - something in the skins anyway - causes a histamine reaction that is a migraine trigger. (I think it is the same part of red wine that is good for your heart ) I do know I can drink it now with meals without noticing ill effect. ( as long as I avoid bread )
They say only bad drink would give you a headache. I know we tested my dad's brandy by splitting a liter among three of us. We drank until 2am, and at 6am I went for a coding gig (doing Cobol, no less) and I was fit as a fiddle, not even hungry - just thirsty. Who dines brandy, breakfasts water.
I used to have headaches, usually on weekends. Even my MD wife couldn't figure it out. It turned out to be a combination of several factors, any two of which could trigger it. One was eyestrain - she told me to get reading glasses (started with 1.25 at age of 46, now at 2.0). That helped some, but what got rid of most of them was a proper working chair. Sitting on a normal dining chair for hours gets me to slump down after just nine hours, and I'd still keep my head up to see the monitor - and my neck would be at an awkward angle for hours, which probably didn't help the circulation in my brain.
Next, I got rid of some leftover roots of former teeth in the upper jaw, and now take care to dry my (leftover) hair ASAP. And the last thing, my sinuses seem to get jammed somewhat and I've learned to recognize the symptoms on time, so I take some thinner. Decongestant pills, I think they are called.
