I'm with Walter on this one. I'm always behind a firewall. I always use Windows update. My home network, with four PCs and my wife and 16 year old daugther on it have had no problems. None. But they know and I know not to install anything without some thought.

Not running an AV program (which now usually also includes anti-trojan and anti-spyware facilities) is not a smart thing to do. There really is no excuse for it since many such tools are free and with todays cpu's and hdd sizes they are no longer a resource hog per se.
