>>>What is the problem. I had some strange things happen in a past life with stuff like Share.Exe. Do U have a virus? Is the VFP APP EXE corrupt. Did U completly delete VFP 3.0 before upgrading to 3.0b? (This was reported by someone on the thread a week or so ago)... More details may enable the team to help out. Steve

>>no virus. problem (main one, anyhow) is that we use pkzip for backup routine. before running routine, say 'set default to data' so to make pkzip call cleaner. system gives error -- 'invalid path/filename' (something like that). path and default directories are set correctly and data directory exists. this works on every other machine we've tested on.

>What is your drive (Sys(5)? I Think). The directory, if it does exist, does not have anything strange related to it. For example, any rights or hidden or anything else share?... Try to create a little system that does SET DEFA and Ur PKZIP stuff. Does it work? R U changing the path in anyway anywhere? Do U use a variable (global I would assume) that contains the path that your SET DEFA is running against. Have U tried a fully qualified path SET DEFA TO C:\mysys\DATA? This is all I can rattle off for now... I'll have a few beers tonite and get more than 5 hours of sleep and perhaps I may have some more ideas... htwh. Steve - Soon to be VB Trained

good questions, but everything you've mentioned has been tried. (this system works on every other machine we've installed it on) we're going to reformat the hard drive and make sure that pc-dos is never seen here again.
