Solved it.
We have projects on the P: drive, with all the progs in the same dir as the project. There's only supposed to be one set of progs for all (or so I thought). The user data are on the S: drive, in separate dirs depending on our customer. I discovered quite by chance that there are a load of progs from the suite on the user's S: drive dir, wherein lie the tables. And only on this project! Guess what was on the offending line in that prog.
Use percent
ie a totally different table. I tried to open that in the IDE and got the same index error. So did the biz on that one and now OK :-)
Thanks for the suggestions, boys.
