I use SQlDeveloper (Free) from oracle.

If you use VS2005 the new ODT (Oracle Data Tools for DOTNET) is an absolute must have the latest version is 11.0.xxx

YOU must use this as the 10.x.xxx is a piece of XXXXX and goes down in history as the worst plugin ever for VS.net...

Realize that ODT 11 is betaware and you must take your chances but I live this and haven't found any problems.

Things they don't tell you. Everything at Oracle cost's money.

You should join the partner network @ 2000 per year

All of oracle software is then downloadable with the patches. They patch much less frequently than MS BUT they do patch.

After you ante-up

IMMEDIATELY

Go to the Partner website and monitor the forums the are quite informative.

I'll try to watch this thread for any insight.

Without SQLDevloper or TOAD Oracle blows it is incredible that 30 years after Oracle comes out still no GUI frontend.

We have a relatively affordable PL/SQl / DBA we rent and has helped us get slowly up to speed. Going rates are absolutely high over 200 to 300 is normal. I don't pay that but I was floored when I got quotes..

High 100's should be your starting point if you get less I WANT TO KNOW...

I also use Mere Mortals .net and Kevin has be outstanding in walking me though both Oracle headaches and my own stupidity.

Whatever you choose save time and use a framework....

Anyway
