Last time I had a problem of this sort, I created my own printing dialog (there were additional constraints on printer selection, which was the reason for custom dialog), and then when printing I had .pagerange property of the dialog to rely on. It was just text, so I was able to write some code to extract real page ranges from it, Office style. The user can enter ranges delimited by commas or semicolons, and a range can be a single page, or a n1-n2 range (from-to).
