I've been here 17 years and have never seen anything like that. Growing up in the South(notice the capital S!), I was trained to love snow. No school, no work, sledding and bonfires, always fun and then gone in a couple of days with no shoveling. Even now, however much it snows, when it stops my wife and I say "That's it?". Just once I'd like one of the legendary snow falls of the past. The shoveling alone would probably cure me forever of wanting more snow.

>I remember when I was a child, around 9 or 10 years old, it snowed so much in Wisconsin that it was up above our windows. We had to open a window and dig out the snow and send my little brother out into it to digout the front door. I spent many many mornings before school shoveling snow. Creating tunnels in the snow was quite fun though as a child :o) I remember a huge snowfall in may one year and we rode our snowmobiles to town. I decided that unless you have five kids to dig you out everyday, I would not elect to live anyplace where it snows so much ever again :o) Of course, I don't think there have been any winters like that since.

>>I think so for me, at least in the summer. That's when I need some beach. Oddly enough for a Southern boy, I don't mind the winters here. This last Feburary was considered the coldest one for about twenty years and I was really surprised to hear that. I don't think it got below -20 in Minneapolis, but it stayed chilly for almost the whole month. Before I moved here that would have sounded pretty bad, but now I don't really notice it.

>>>Is that what they meant by "Feeling Minnesota"?
