Carlos,
Like Marcia often said, my crystal ball didn't work properly today. APPEND FROM is usual xBase command. CAs supports them. I like to know what is the BACKEND error! I like to know full message after:

Connectivity error: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]...
