Today I stumbled on the following by accident. It seems extremely useful.

By pressing Alt-Shift-Up or Alt-Shift-Down, the entire paragraph that contains the cursor is selected, and moved up or down, to the previous or next paragraph.

This quick shortcut can save several steps that would otherwise be required to do the same thing.

Here are some other useful shortcuts, which are not found readily:
  • Shift-F5 will put the cursor back where it was before the last major cursor movement command. Also: Word saves the cursor position when saving a document. You can open a document and press Shift-F5 to go back to where the cursor was before. (Alas, newer versions of Word will not save a document if there are no changes.)
  • Shift-F3 will change the case of the word under the cursor (or the selected text).
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
