>I'd like to know if anyone has come across a tool for extracting data from Btrieve files. I have a client that is using an old DOS program called Orthosoft. It is a practice management system for Orthodontists. There are many files with the extension .BTR but I can't seem to find any .DDF files. I've never had to do this before but if someone could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it very much. Thanks!

I believe the ddf files are necessary to read the files via odbc. Without them, I do not know any way
Once you have them, you can download a trial version from pervasive which will allow you to read the database with odbc
There's also an interface that shows the table definitions, allows you to enter SQL statements and lets you 'browse' the data
