Yes, Fairfax is pretty nice. Used to be a hippie capital of sorts, what with many members of the Grateful Dead living around here, and more VW buses than any other cars some 22 years ago when we moved in here. It's been gentrified since then, but even so, for a town of 9,000 people, you can hear live music every night of the week in at least two bars.

I love to ride mountain bikes, and this area is a paradise for that -- Gary Fischer and Otis Guy hail from here, as do many other mountain biking grand old men... I can literally start riding uphill from my front door, and soon reach a spot where the sign says: Singletrack Only!

I am quite content with the surroundings, I must say.
