It also hosed all uninstalls including itself. The "manual" uninstall from Norton said "do this and that and then run the uninstall" (what a bunch of goobers). Guess who reformatted his hard drive and reinstalled everything. Guess who will never use SystemWorks again. Is anything similar possible in your case?
