Hi, James,
Thanks for responding. I found one made by Dynex today and took a chance on it. It's 'OK', but not great. I had to find a specific location for the transmitter. I'm doing a road trip on Tuesday, so that will test it out. I belong to Napster and have downloaded a ton of jazz files onto my MP3 player, and would love to play them in my car.
I read mixed reviews on the Belkin. I did read that these products work much better if your car radio can scan up and down .1, as very few stations broadcast on even-numbered frequencies. (Unfortunately, haven't been able to figure out how to do that on my car radio). I also found that my reception was better if I picked lower frequencies (like 89.3) than higher ones (I'm sure there's a technical reason for that...I don't know much about radio).
Unfortunately, my car came with a CD player (not an MP3/CD, but regular CD), and no tape cassette, so I don't have the ability to use a direct connection. So if this doesn't work out, I'll just bite the bullet and shell out a few hundred for a new system at Best Buy.
Thanks,
Kevin
