>>>>>>>>Sorry, if we did, I don't remember it. We had the 'Milky Way' bar, but I don't remember any Milky Bar Kid. Was he like the Cisco Kid, only with a chocolate bar as his sidekick?

>>>>>>>Hey! Watch out! Insulting the Cisko Kid and Pancho is them fighting' words!
>>>>>>
>>>>>>Oh, no, I wasn't trying to imply that Pancho wasn't more effective as a sidekick than a chocolate bar. Although....

>>>>>>Oh, Pancho.
>>>>>>Oh, Cisco.

>>>
>>>Damn that sounds familiar. I keep getting an image of 'Range Rider', but his sidekick was Dickie West so I know that's wrong. And I refuse to look it up.
>>
>>Actually, you get bonus points for this. Jock Mahoney - the Range Rider - sidekick Dick West - later reincarnated in reconstruction New Orleans as Yancy Deringer, riverboat gambler ( even had his own riverboat ) Sword cane, 4 barrel Sharps Derringers in sleeve and hat. Pahoo had shotgun under blanket and large knife in sheath behind his neck.
>>( fun fact - Madame Francene played by Frances Bergen - Candace Bergen's mother )
>
>Yes, I do remember it now. Yancy Derringer! How could I have forgotten. Jock Mahoney - right. That's why I kept flashing on Range Rider.
>
>Man, I'm even older than I thought!

>>Only competion in the coolest thing on TV in the 50s category was Richard Boone as Paladin.

BTW Have Gun Will Travel is out on DVD !! I think Netflix has it. ( I got excited and bought the first two seasons - amazing number of episodes per season in those days - 40+ ) Amazing how well it holds up, actually.

"Ballad of Paladin" by Johnny Western, Richard Boone, and Sam Rolfe
Performed by Johnny Western

Have Gun Will Travel reads the card of a man.
A knight without armor in a savage land.
His fast gun for hire heeds the calling wind.
A soldier of fortune is the man called Paladin.

Paladin, Paladin Where do you roam?
Paladin, Paladin, Far, far from home.

He travels on to wherever he must;
A chess knight of silver is his badge of trust.
There are campfire legends that the plainsmen spin
Of the man with the gun,
of the man called Pa-l-l-l-l-a-din

>That was a great show. Although, when I was a kid, the show to watch was Ovaltine's 'Captain Midnight' which was later changed to 'Jet Jackson'. Captain Midnight's pal was Ichabod Mudd, with two Ds. ;) I still regret the fact that I never had a decoder ring.

I did - but GOD how I hated Ovaltine ! But it was worth it to be one of the Future Leaders of the 21st Century !

Yancy Derringer" music by Henry Russell and with lyrics by Don Quinn

They sing of Yancy Derringer
On every danger trail,
On riverboat, in manor house
And now and then in jail.

They say that Yancy Derringer
Had ruffles at his wrists,
Brocade and silver buckles
And iron in his fists.

Yancy, Yancy Derringer,
Yancy, Yancy Derringer
In every tale of derring do
They tell of Yancy D.

Fun Fact : Jack Mahoney was Sally Fields' stepfather.

A sword cane, a Pawnee sidekick with a sawed-off, boning Murphy Brown's mother, and a step-daughter Sister who can FLY !!! Doesn't get any cooler than that.

Suck it, Jack Bauer ! <bg>

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
