>Have you ever driven through Big Sur? IIRC the speed limit in some spots is 15 mph, and you don't even want to exceed it. The view makes it worth it, though. You realize why some Californians wouldn't live anywhere else.

I lived in San Francisco for 15 years. Did the drive many times, including a couple of times all the way down the coast highway to Santa Barbara ( there are some scary moments on that trip - especially when the mudslides are sliding. Sure is beautiful though. there is a restaurant just before Big Sur called Nepenthe that is perched on a cliff - the view is stunning and there is kind of an eating counter right on the edge where you sit facing the ocean. Pretty spectacular place to watch sunsets.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
