A while back, our department hired a woman (Ellen) right out of university. She seemed nice. As with every new hire, she was on 3 month probation. Anyway a few of us (she not included) were walking to Union Station after work, and Karen said, "Gee, I really hope she works out." I, of course replied, "Why, did you think she was fat?" Joe looked at me and said, "You know, a person just can't have a normal conversation with you." I almost cried. It was the one of the nicest things anyone ever said to me.
