I just want to know how come the university has the 'Hawkeyes', but it was Radar who was from Iowa.

>Well, my situation has been a little different. I went to college for programming, but got a techie job for a year. I then got my first programming job which was a combination of VB6, VFP, and VB.NET. I didn't get to spend the time I wanted then to really learn .NET (hence a lot of newbie questions for a long time for me on here).

>Really, it all depends on if you are starting from scratch or converting from a different language. Sometimes it might even be easier to start from scratch because you don't have to un-learn something from another language.

>Sorry, I babbled a lot and didn't answer your question. ;-)

>>Thanks for the input Mike, Can you give me an estimate of manhours put into learning .Net?

For those of you that have moved to .Net what did it cost (tuition, time, lost revenue) compared to your increased earning potential and how long was the payback. I would especially be interested in responses from developers who work for companies with less than 100 employees (the ONLY type of place I would consider working)

>>>I think salaries vary greatly be region. I could tell you the range in Iowa but I am afraid of getting laughed at. Are you talking about in PA?
>>>
>>>OK, I will tell.
>>>
>>>In the small town I used to live in, the range was 30K-35K.
>>>
>>>When I moved to a larger city, I have seen 40K-50K pretty regularly. I have also seen a few 65K.
