I interviewed a number of years ago for the Chief Financial position at Heatalator(sp) in Fairfield thinking I needed to get closer to home since my parents were getting up there in age.
Well, I stayed in Iowa City that weekend and went to the Iowa spring football game which was held in April. It snowed at the Spring game. I called my wife and said forget about being closer to home, I was not leaving Florida. Evidently my parents really didn't need me as my mother, who will soon be 96, still lives by herself in Parkersburg and still drives her own car.
>>>>I just want to know how come the university has the 'Hawkeyes', but it was Radar who was from Iowa.

>>>He was not only from Iowa, but also my hometown of Ottumwa.

>>Of all the cities I've lived in (9 cities in 6 six states over the past 30 years or so), my second favorite was Fairfield IA (96-97). Of course, you can make a good case that it isn't really in Iowa.

>Okay, you've got me wondering why Fairfield might not really be in Iowa? I haven't been to Iowa much since I graduated High School in 1956, so I guess Ottumwa and Fairfield could've washed down river to the Mississippi. It came close to happening in, I believe, 1947:)
