>>I interviewed a number of years ago for the Chief Financial position at Heatalator(sp) in Fairfield thinking I needed to get closer to home since my parents were getting up there in age.

>>Well, I stayed in Iowa City that weekend and went to the Iowa spring football game which was held in April. It snowed at the Spring game. I called my wife and said forget about being closer to home, I was not leaving Florida. Evidently my parents really didn't need me as my mother, who will soon be 96, still lives by herself in Parkersburg and still drives her own car.

>I hope it's a bumper car at an isolated field somewhere. 96?! That's just plain crazy.
Nope - she has three routes she travels. Getting the mail route, getting groceries route and every Fridays she needs to get her hair set so it will look good for church Sunday. All the people in the small town know this and as one person in the barber shop said "we all watch out for her". Her driving days are about over as the last time I was home I noticed the bottom half of the garage door was missing due to her not stopping in time. She promised she would quit driving when she reached 96.
I just love small town USA where things like this can happen.
And if you haven't guessed it - she drives a Buick Century. Just like most of the other old people.:-)
