I know enough about large software projects to know that a complete rewrite in a different language of a large project using an internal staff who needs to learn the new platform is far from trivial. All I was suggesting to him, since he was on the fence about moving in that direceion, is making the project SQL compliant would make the migration easier.

>PMFJI, but since Bob doesn't use .net, he wouldn't be able to answer that question based on experience. I've developed in Fox from foxbase thru vfp 8.0. My switch to .net was fairly painless. I read K. McNeish's book, ".net development for vfp programmer's (or something close to that), chose c# and began learning the new syntax. I was writing production code in a couple of weeks. The .net framework itself takes a while to get to know, but with intellisense and online help (google) you can find examples of just about anything you need.
