I have done a smiliar thing and it is working fine. Try these steps:

1. Create a new form
2. Add a grid
3. Set grid properties
RecordSource: "your SQL statement"
RecordSourceType: 4-SQL statement

Now when you run the form, the grid should be populated and enabled. If the grid is not populated, try removing the where clause from your SQL statement to verify that you are checking for valid dates.
